Storestrand Opformering is one of the best Danish multiplication herds. With its location between sea and inlet in the north-west of Jutland, our herd is far from all neighbours, so the risk of infection is minimal.
Storestrand Opformering takes pride in supplying young quality sows to our customers. We focus on ongoing improvements to ensure that we supply strong and healthy animals. As a result, our herds have the absolutely top health status in the market: red SPF herd.
Storestrand Opformering has existed since 2008 and is today managed by Lene and Christian Nørgaard. The couple has always maintained a high quality and health status and intends to continue doing so in the future.
Over the years, the multiplication herd has grown to 1350 sows, of which two thirds are Danish Landrace and the remainder of the Yorkshire breed.
Each year, Storestrand Opformering produces approximately 15,000 young LY/YL sows.
The young sows are kept in our modern housing units, where they are fed dry feed from the time they are weaned until they weigh approximately 30 kg. Then they are fed restrictively on wet feed until they are sold.
All this serves to optimise the conditions for our young sows and ultimately to be able to supply the best quality sows to our customers.
Health is the be-all and end-all of our work and the result is healthy and strong young sows.
Our health status as a red SPF herd is proof that we never compromise on the health of our pigs, but it is also a promise to our customers of what they can expect when they choose us.

Our team at Storestrand Opformering consists of 12 highly skilled employees. We are a mixture of skilled and unskilled workers as well as apprentices, but we all share a passion for Danish pig production at the highest international level.
